Sheikh Talal vows to “open new chapter” in Asian Olympic sports

The new chairman of the Asian Olympic Council Sheikh Talal Al-Fahad Al-Sabah has pledged after his election to open a new chapter in the history of the Asian Olympic sports.

“A page was folded today and a new one was opened,” said the eminent Kuwait sports personality as he addressed the second general assembly of the council, held in the Thai capital, Bangkok. He won the eminent seat with 24 votes against 20 his contender, Hussein Al-Musallam, secretary of the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee.

Sheikh Talal Al-Fahad proposed to name Al-Musallam as his honorary deputy considering his long service and noticeable contributions to developing the Olympic sports in Asia. His proposal was unanimously approved.
