Kuwait city: The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has commended Kuwait for its pivotal role in supporting sustainable development initiatives and combating terrorism. These remarks were made during a meeting between the SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming and Kuwaiti Ambassador to China Jassim Al-Najim, as reported by the Kuwait Embassy in China. According to Kuwait News Agency, Ming is scheduled to participate in a high-level conference titled "Strengthening International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Building Agile Border Security Mechanisms: The Kuwait Phase of the Dushanbe Process," which will take place in Kuwait next week. Ming emphasized Kuwait's significant contributions to enhancing cooperation among SCO member countries, reflecting Kuwait's active involvement as a member of the organization. Ambassador Al-Najim reiterated Kuwait's dedication to establishing balanced partnerships with various countries and international entities. He stressed the importance of enhancing collaboration in comb ating all forms of terrorism and fostering dialogue among member nations. Statistics indicate that trade exchange between SCO member countries has surpassed USD 650 billion in 2023, highlighting the economic significance of the organization. The SCO, established in June 2001, is the world's largest regional organization. It currently includes ten full member countries: Russia, China, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, India, Pakistan, Iran, and Belarus. Additionally, Afghanistan and Mongolia serve as supervisors, while 14 other countries, including Kuwait, participate as dialogue partners.
