Paris: Two people were killed, including a child, and 17 others injured during severe thunderstorms in France on Wednesday evening, French authorities said on Thursday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, BFM TV quoted Alexandre Jouassard, Deputy Head of the Crisis Management Operations Center of the French Civil Protection Service, reporting that the thunderstorms resulted in the deaths and injuries, with one person in critical condition.
The report also highlighted that the storms uprooted trees, disrupted train services, and cut off power to thousands of homes. Nearly 100,000 homes remained without electricity on Thursday, mainly in the regions of Auvergne, North Midi-Pyrenees, Centre-Val de Loire, Burgundy, and Limousin.
Emergency services stated that maintenance teams have been working since early morning to restore power to the affected areas.
