Graz: Several people were killed in a shooting incident at a school in the city of Graz, southern Austria, announced Austrian security authorities on Tuesday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the police stated that they intervened immediately after receiving reports of gunshots heard at the school this morning, adding that security forces began securing the site and investigating the incident.
The Ministry of Interior reported that the attack resulted in "several fatalities" without specifying the exact number, with local media indicating that the initial toll suggests at least ten dead.
The Austrian Press Agency (APA) reported that the attacker, who was among the dead, is a 22-year-old former student of the school.
Investigations are still ongoing to uncover the motives of the perpetrator and his psychological and social background, while the identities of the victims have not yet been announced, pending official notifications to their families.
Graz is the second largest city in Austria, with a population of about 300,000 citizens.
