Security Operations Result in Deaths of 2 Soldiers and 9 Militants in Northern Pakistan

Kuwait City: At least two soldiers and nine militants were killed in two separate engagements in Pakistan's northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), said the military on Saturday.

According to Kuwait News Agency, a statement by Pakistan military's media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) detailed that security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Mohmand district of KPK. During this operation, seven militants were neutralized after troops effectively engaged them at their location.

The statement confirmed that two soldiers of the Pakistan army made the ultimate sacrifice and were killed in the intense fire exchange after having fought gallantly.

In another encounter in the general area of Maddi in the Dera Ismail Khan district of KPK, security forces exchanged fire with militants, resulting in the deaths of two militants, as reported by ISPR.

The military further stated that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants who were actively involved in numerous terrorist activities. Sanitization operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining militant presence in the area.

"Security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country," ISPR concluded.

Earlier on Thursday, the security operation to rescue hostages in the Pakistan train attack was completed, in which all 33 attackers were killed, leading to the recovery of all passengers. The incident resulted in the deaths of 21 passengers and four security personnel.

These operations occur amid a rise in terror attacks, particularly in KPK and Balochistan provinces, which border Afghanistan.
