Security operation kills 2 militants in N. Pakistan

At least two militants were killed by the security forces in an operation in North Waziristan tribal district of Pakistan?’s northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province bordering Afghanistan, said military on Wednesday.

A statement issued by the media wing of Pakistan military, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said, “The operation was conducted on the reported presence of terrorists.” It confirmed that two militants were killed in the intelligence-based operation carried out after surrounding the militants’ location in the Ramzak area of North Waziristan.

“Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain terrorists,” the ISPR said, adding that they “remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces as well as extortion and target killing of innocent citizens.” The security operation comes at a time when terror activities have risen in the country following the end of ceasefire by the banned outfit Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan with the government last year.
