Balochistan: At least 27 militants were killed in a security operation in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province bordering Afghanistan, said the military on Monday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, a press release issued by Pakistan military's media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Kacchi District of Balochistan province on the reported presence of terrorists in the area. After an intense exchange of fire, 27 "terrorists" were killed. Multiple hideouts, including caches of arms, ammunition, and explosives, were also destroyed during the operation, it added.
The killed were involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces, as well as innocent civilians and were highly wanted by the law enforcement agencies, said ISPR.
Earlier on Sunday, at least nine militants were killed in two separate operations by security forces in Pakistan's northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province bordering Afghanistan. The operations come as Pakistan is witnessing a rise in terror attacks, especially in KPK and Balochistan.
