Kalat: At least four militants were killed by security forces during an intelligence-based operation in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, said the military on Tuesday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, a press release by Pakistan military's media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that security forces killed four terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the Kalat district of Balochistan. The operation was conducted following reports of the presence of terrorists in the area.
The military confirmed that Pakistani forces engaged the terrorists' location effectively, leading to an intense exchange of fire, which resulted in the killing of four "terrorists." Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the militants, who were said to be actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area.
The release added that security operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the area. The statement emphasized the relentless Counter Terrorism campaign by Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan, which will continue at full pace to eradicate foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
This operation follows an attack a day earlier in which at least six policemen and a civilian were killed in an assault targeting a police vehicle in Pakistan's northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province. Pakistan is currently experiencing a rise in terror attacks, especially in the KPK and Balochistan provinces, which border Afghanistan.
