SCH Chairman stresses efforts to improve health services quality

Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), held a meeting with heads of government health authorities and institutions.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Jalila bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health.

The SCH Chairman affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to strengthen and develop the national health system, and to provide high-quality medical services to all citizens and residents in the Kingdom.

The meeting discussed important developments in the health care, especially procedures to implement the national health insurance program.

Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed congratulated Brigadier General Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, newly appointed Acting Commander of the Royal Medical Services (RMS), and Colonel Dr. Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, newly appointed Acting Commander of King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH), on obtaining the royal trust and wished them further success.

The SCH Chairman gave a detailed presentation on the preparations for the implementation of health insurance and reviewed the legislative and executive steps that have been achieved to implement it, including the autonomy project, and the appointment of boards of trustees and chief executives of financial and human regulations.

He stressed the importance of cooperation among all health institutions to provide services at the highest levels of quality.

The Minister of Health outlined the ministry’s role and functions as a key partner in developing the health system and following up on the program’s implementation in partnership with Bahrain Council for Health Studies to train health workers.

RMS Acting Commander and KHUK Acting Commander expressed their appreciation to the SCH Chairman and stressed the importance of coordination between all health service providers to achieve the desired goals for the development of health services in the Kingdom.
