Riyadh: The Saudi Cabinet called on Tuesday for adherence to the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, its full implementation, and progress towards a political solution that embodies an independent Palestinian state.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Minister of State and Acting Minister of Media, Dr. Issam bin Saeed, stated that this call came after the Cabinet session chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz. The Cabinet reiterated its support for the conclusions of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS meeting, hosted by Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the need for continued international efforts and practical steps to combat cross-border terrorism and its direct threat to societal security and stability.
The Cabinet praised the efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Syria, highlighting the visit of a Saudi delegation to Damascus. This visit aimed to initiate strategic projects and contracts in sectors such as aviation, communications, water, industry, and education to strengthen Syrian infrastructure and promote economic growth.
In its session, the Cabinet reviewed various agenda items, including authorizing the Saudi Minister of Energy to negotiate and sign draft agreements with Jordan and Turkiye. These agreements focus on the peaceful uses of nuclear and atomic energy between Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Turkiye.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved an agreement for a high-speed electric rail link between Saudi Arabia and Qatar. It also sanctioned a memorandum of understanding between the Saudi Ministry of Health and the Syrian Ministry of Health for cooperation in health fields.
Moreover, the Cabinet authorized the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Geological Survey, to discuss and sign a draft memorandum of understanding with Yemen. This agreement pertains to technical and scientific geological cooperation between the Saudi Geological Survey and the Yemeni Geological Survey and Mineral Resources Authority.
