Saudi Arabia Marks Human Fraternity Day with Humanitarian Projects

Riyadh: As the world marks the International Day of Human Fraternity every year on February 4, Saudi Arabia's humanitarian efforts stand out as a global model of solidarity, compassion, and brotherly ties among nations.

According to Saudi Press Agency, over the years, Saudi Arabia has delivered 8,749 humanitarian, development, and charitable projects across 175 countries, with total assistance exceeding $145 billion. The efforts embody the Kingdom's humanitarian message - one grounded in service to humanity and the protection of dignity, without discrimination.

At the heart of this global outreach is the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), established in 2015 as Saudi Arabia's humanitarian arm. Since its inception, KSrelief has delivered 4,183 projects across vital sectors in 113 countries, including Palestine, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, and Somalia, with total funding surpassing $8.325 billion. Through these initiatives, millions of people in need or affected by hardship have received assistance without discrimination.

Saudi Arabia's humanitarian role has gained international recognition. In 2025, the Kingdom ranked second globally and first in the Arab world among donor countries providing humanitarian and relief assistance, according to the United Nations Financial Tracking Service (FTS).

KSrelief has received numerous awards and honors, including the Arab League's family- and child-friendly institutions award for 2024, in recognition of its support for Palestinian children and families living under occupation. The center has been honored with the Global Humanitarian Achievement Award from the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations, acknowledging its significant contributions to international relief efforts. In addition, KSrelief earned the ISO 8000-1:2022 international certification for data quality on the Saudi Aid Platform, making the center one of the first Saudi entities to receive this accreditation, as confirmed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Among the Kingdom's profound humanitarian initiatives is the Saudi Conjoined Twins Programme, implemented through the KSrelief. Since 1990, the program has successfully performed 67 separation surgeries and medically assessed 155 cases from 28 countries across five continents. At Saudi Arabia's initiative, the United Nations designated November 24 as the World Conjoined Twins Day.

The International Day of Human Fraternity serves as a powerful reminder that humanity belongs to one shared family, diverse in culture, equal in dignity and rights, and united by a commitment to peaceful coexistence.
