Beirut: Prime Minister, Dr. Nawaf Salam, on Thursday held a series of meetings at the Grand Serail, tackling development needs and long-standing civil service issues.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Salam first met with MP Walid Al-Baarini, who was accompanied by a delegation of long-term contractual employees. Al-Baarini emphasized the urgency of granting these employees permanent status, noting that they had passed Civil Service Board exams more than 11 years ago.
Discussions also addressed key development projects in Akkar, including the establishment of a Civil Defense center and the long-awaited Mishmish-Fneideq highway.
PM Salam also received a delegation from the Civil Forum advocating for the implementation of Law No. 105/2018 on the forcibly disappeared. The group called for the immediate appointment of new members to the national commission whose mandate expired on July 3.
Salam confirmed that the decree to reconstitute the body is finalized and will be presented to Cabinet shortly.
Later, a delegation from 'Live Love Beirut' presented environmental initiatives, including a new waste sorting project.
