S. Korea’s Yoon and Ukraine’s Umerov Discuss Russia-North Korea Military Cooperation.

Seoul: South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and a Ukrainian delegation led by Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov discussed joint responses to security threats amid growing military cooperation between Russia and North Korea. According to Kuwait News Agency, the discussions took place on Wednesday and focused on sharing information about North Korea's troop deployment to Russia and weapons and technology transfers between Russia and North Korea. Both sides agreed to work together with allied nations to address these concerns. During the meeting, President Yoon emphasized South Korea's commitment to discussing "practical response measures" with Ukraine. These measures aim to counter the security threats posed by the increasing military ties between Moscow and Pyongyang. Yoon also stressed the importance of coordinating closely with the United States. Following their meeting with President Yoon, the Ukrainian delegation held separate talks with South Korea's National Security Adviser Shin Won-sik and D efense Minister Kim Yong-hyun. During these talks, they shared intelligence on North Korean troops deployed to Russia and expressed hopes for deepening future cooperation with South Korea, as noted by Yoon's office. Last Friday, Shin Won-sik revealed that Russia has provided North Korea with anti-air missiles and air defense equipment in exchange for North Korea's troop deployment in support of Moscow's war in Ukraine.
