Russia’s Lavrov Calls for Lasting Gaza Ceasefire Amid Talks with Morocco

Moscow: Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized the importance of a durable Gaza ceasefire during discussions on Thursday, calling for agreements between the Israeli occupation government and Hamas to be respected to ensure regional stability.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Lavrov made these remarks at a joint press conference with Morocco's Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita in Moscow. The two ministers reviewed developments in the Middle East, focusing on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and acknowledged Morocco's efforts in supporting a comprehensive and peaceful resolution.

In addition to the Middle East discussions, Lavrov and Bourita talked about enhancing bilateral trade and economic ties, with both nations committed to reinforcing friendly relations and expanding their strategic partnership through increased trade and investment. Lavrov also appreciated Morocco's approach to the Ukraine crisis.

Meanwhile, Bourita highlighted the alignment between Moroccan and Russian positions on regional issues and praised the efforts that led to the recent ceasefire agreement. He also noted Russia's significant role in Africa.

Bourita revealed plans to meet with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev to further economic, humanitarian, and educational cooperation. He announced the introduction of new direct flights from Casablanca to Saint Petersburg aimed at boosting tourism and strengthening societal ties.
