ROPME Concludes Summer Educational Program on Marine Conservation

Kuwait city: The Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment (ROPME), in cooperation with 10 participating entities, concluded its summer camp Al-Ra'ed Al-Azraq (Blue Pioneer) on Thursday. ROPME Executive Secretary Dr. Mohammad Al-Ahmad informed that the program is part of the organization's strategy to educate civil society and the education sector about marine environment conservation.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Dr. Al-Ahmad highlighted the importance of teaching marine conservation and sustainability concepts, describing it as a core pillar for preserving life below water. He explained that the educational approach includes both formal education, which is integrated into school curricula in cooperation with education ministries in GCC states, Iraq, and Iran, as well as non-formal education through exhibitions, camps, and field programs.

Dr. Al-Ahmad noted that the summer camp is a key non-formal activity aimed at expanding marine environmental awareness. This year's camp was developed in collaboration with member states, with plans to extend the program to all members next year. ROPME's jurisdiction includes the Arabian Gulf, the Sea of Oman, and parts of the Arabian Sea, covering approximately 500,000 square kilometers, and involves participation from GCC countries, Iraq, and Iran.
