PARIS, March 16 (KUNA) — The French government had bypassed the National Assembly (lower house) vote on the bill amending the retirement age in the country, said a report by a media outlet Thursday.
French BFMTV news station affirmed that President Emmanuel Macron decided to invoke an article in the constitution allowing the government to bypass votes on bills in the National Assembly.
It added that Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne notified parliament of the government’s decision to bypass the vote.
Earlier, the French senate ratified the highly controversial bill amending the age of retirement from 62 to 64.
The vote came with 193 in favor of the amendment, while 114 others voted against the motion. (pickup previous) mao.gta
