The security forces raided a garage used to smuggle oil derivatives, arrested six suspects, and seized their vehicles in the governorates of Diyala, Baghdad and Wasit.
A statement by the Ministry of Interior stated: “The detachments of the third and fourth energy police brigades seized five vehicles intended for smuggling oil derivatives, and arrested their drivers in the governorates of Diyala and Baghdad, along with seizing a vehicle for illegal trading in oil and its derivatives, where two tanks were found, the first with a capacity of 30,000 thousand liters, and the second with 6,000 liters by detachments of the Fifth Brigade in Wasit Governorate, during the past twenty-four hours.
The statement explained that: “The accused were placed under arrest with their vehicles in preparation for completing the necessary legal procedures and presenting them before the competent court in accordance with Law No. 41 of 2008 on combating smuggling of oil and its derivatives.”
