Qatar Praises UK, Canada, Australia, Portugal for Recognizing Palestine

Doha: The State of Qatar has expressed its approval of the recent decision by the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and Portugal to officially recognize Palestine. This development is seen as a significant achievement for the Palestinian people.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Qatar Foreign Ministry released a statement highlighting that the recognition aligns with international legitimacy, United Nations Security Council resolutions, and the "New York Declaration" on a two-state solution. The ministry emphasized that this move could aid in advancing the prospects for a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in the region.

Qatar has also reiterated its call for other countries that have yet to recognize Palestine to take similar actions, underscoring a commitment to international law. The statement reaffirmed Doha's steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and the people's aspiration for an independent State of Palestine, defined by the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
