Doha: The Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, held official talks with US President Donald Trump at the Amiri Diwan in Doha. This historic meeting marked the first state visit by a US President to Qatar.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Sheikh Tamim expressed his pleasure in hosting President Trump and his delegation. He highlighted the significance of their long-standing relationship and praised the US President as a “man of peace,” hoping their shared aspirations for regional peace could be achieved.
President Trump extended his gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality received from the Qatari leadership. The discussions between the two leaders culminated in the signing of several key agreements, including a purchase agreement for Boeing aircraft, a statement of intent for defense cooperation, and letters of offer and acceptance for the MQ-9B UAV and FS-LIDS anti-drone system.
Additionally, a joint declaration of cooperation between the governments of Qatar and the United States was signed. President Trump’s visit to Qatar follows his trip to Saudi Arabia and is part of a broader Gulf tour, which also includes the United Arab Emirates.
