Groups of protesting citizens, “the majority of whom were said to be followers of the Sadrist movement,” began to withdraw from the front of the Swedish embassy building in the capital, Baghdad, after storming and setting fire to the building, in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Groups of protesting citizens had tried to bring down the concrete barriers in preparation for storming the Swedish embassy building in the capital, Baghdad, in protest and an angry popular response to Sweden’s granting of a new approval to the so-called “Sloan Momica” in order to burn a copy of the Holy Qur’an and the Iraqi flag in front of the Iraqi embassy building in the capital, Stockholm, later today, Thursday.
