Prime Minister discusses with Iranian Interior Minister enhancing security cooperation and controlling common borders

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani discussed, today, Monday, with the Minister of Interior of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ahmad Vahidi, enhancing security cooperation and controlling common borders.

A statement by his media office said: “Al-Sudani received the Minister of Interior of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ahmad Vahidi, where they discussed the most important files of joint cooperation between the two countries, the participation of the Iranian delegation in the second Baghdad International Conference on Combating Drugs, and the most important recommendations that came out of the conference.”

The statement added that “the meeting witnessed a discussion of enhancing security cooperation in the field of controlling common borders, as well as implementing the security agreement and developing work on it, in a way that confirms preventing the use of Iraqi or Iranian lands as a starting point for attacking neighboring countries, and exploiting them by groups outside the law.”

He pointed out that “t
he meeting discussed means of facilitating the movement of visitors to the holy shrines and the decisions taken by the government in this regard, and ways to provide high fluidity for their movement during their stay, in addition to reviewing various aspects of economic cooperation, in a way that serves the interests of the two friendly countries.”
