President Trump Renames Department of Defense to Department of War

Washington: US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Friday to rename the Department of Defense to the "Department of War," asserting that the change will convey a powerful message globally. According to Kuwait News Agency, President Trump emphasized during the signing of several executive orders that the new name reflects the current global status. He highlighted the unmatched strength and capability of the US military, stating, "we have the strongest army in the world ... we have the greatest equipment in the world ... we have the greatest equipment manufacturers without contest ... nobody can compete with us." He further articulated that the renaming signifies a "message of victory and strength" and indicated his administration's intention to use the new name irrespective of Congress's approval, which he deemed possibly unnecessary. US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth mentioned to reporters that the name change is an effort to "restore the warrior spirit" in the US military and emphasized that the military "must attack, not just defend."
