Washington: US President Donald J. Trump signed on Wednesday a number of executive orders, establishing "a coordinated national effort to support the American AI industry by promoting the export of full-stack American AI technology packages." "America is the country that STARTED the AI Race -- and as President of the United States, I'm here today to declare that America is going to WIN it," he said in a speech in Washington.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the executive orders are part of a broader strategy to ensure the United States maintains its position at the forefront of artificial intelligence development and deployment. President Trump emphasized the importance of America leading the AI race, noting that ensuring AI is pioneered in America is crucial.
He further highlighted the need for a renewed sense of patriotism and national loyalty within Silicon Valley. The President criticized major tech companies for outsourcing jobs and operations overseas, specifically mentioning China and India. He declared that his administration would take measures to bring manufacturing and jobs back to the United States.
The White House, in a press release, described artificial intelligence as a foundational technology critical to future economic growth, national security, and global competitiveness. The statement stressed the need for the United States to lead in the development of AI capabilities and promote American technologies and governance models worldwide.
The administration outlined a plan to reduce international dependence on AI technologies from adversarial nations by supporting the global deployment of US-origin AI technologies. Within 90 days, the Secretary of Commerce, alongside the Secretary of State and the Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy, is tasked with implementing the American AI Exports Program to advance the export of full-stack AI packages from the United States.
