Riyadh: The Saudi Cabinet affirmed on Tuesday that a political settlement constitutes the sole avenue for resolving the crisis in Sudan. The cabinet emphasized the importance of adhering to the "Jeddah declaration" agreement, urging warring parties in Sudan to cease firing and facilitate the delivery of aid to those afflicted by the ongoing conflict. According to Kuwait News Agency, Minister of Information Salman Al-Dosari highlighted the significance of the Treaty of Jeddah, signed on May 20, 2023, by the United States, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and representatives of both warring sides. The treaty aimed to establish a week-long ceasefire and ensure the distribution of humanitarian aid within Sudan. Al-Dosari noted that today's cabinet session agenda also included discussions on organizing the international coalition for the two-state settlement's meeting, which brought together representatives and officials from 90 states, regional and international organizations, and addressed the Israeli occupation aggression on Palestinian territories and Lebanon. In addition to regional diplomatic efforts, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has taken steps to resolve the protracted conflict in the Middle East by organizing and hosting the first meeting of the Global Alliance for Implementation of the Two-State Solution. At the local level, the cabinet celebrated the kingdom's advancement by 15 points in the international ranking of tourism spending in 2023. The World Tourism Organization announced that Saudi Arabia achieved the 12th position in international tourist spending, marking a significant advancement of 15 places compared to 2019. The cabinet session also saw agreements on key international partnerships, including the Saudi-US framework agreement for cooperation in aviation and space exploration, inked in July, and an accord with Qatar aimed at averting double taxation.
