Political Analyst: The Political Blocs Bear The Greatest Responsibility In Choosing Ministers And Refraining From Changing Them

The head of the Center for Political Thinking, Ihsan Al-Shammari, affirmed: “The political blocs bear the greatest responsibility in choosing ministers and refraining from changing them.”

Al-Shammari said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA): “There are obstacles that the political blocs have in changing the ministers at present, the first of which is that they do not want to make the change at this time, i.e. before holding the provincial council elections, (if they took place), in order not to appear as having failed managing the ministerial portfolios assigned to them.

He added: “The other thing is that part of those responsible for this issue are allies of Al-Sudani, given that there are parties that do not want a significant prominence in the government’s performance over its predecessors and the personality of the prime minister, and they are pushing through visible and unforeseen alliances to thwart the cabinet reshuffle in order for Al-Sudani to bear the whole failure.”

He continued: “The prime minister bears part of the responsibility, although his government emerged from the coalition, quotas, and agreements, but despite that, everyone considers that al-Sudani is the one who owns the decision, so he must present the ministerial amendments and the general directors despite the objections, because of passing 9 months to his government and there is no difference in performance.

He pointed out: “Iraq is a country open to crises, given that there is a struggle between the political forces for existence and interests, so we are facing new crises that may appear at any time,” pointing out that “the previous crises since 2003 until now have not been resolved, and all solutions were temporary and a matter of tinkering, settlements and deals, so crises erupt from time to time.

Al-Shammari explained: “The next crisis will be political, given that there are local elections and there are those who are pushing for early parliamentary elections. As for the field of services, there is no change from the previous one, due to the difficulty and size of this file.”
