Ramallah: Tens of Palestinian journalists on Monday took part in a protest condemning the Israeli occupation for the systematic assassination of journalists, with the latest incident being the bombing of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza.
According to Kuwait News Agency, participants during the vigil, organized by the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate in central Ramallah, along with political activists and representatives of Palestinian factions, displayed pictures of the martyred journalists Anas al-Sharif, Mohammed Qreiqea, Ibrahim Daher, Moamen Aliwa, Mohammed Nofal, and Mohammed al-Khalidi. The vigil then transformed into a march through the city streets.
The Journalists Syndicate announced earlier that the deaths of these six colleagues have increased the number of journalists and media workers killed since the onset of the conflict to 238. In a speech during the rally, Nasser Abu Bakr, head of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, held the occupation accountable for the crimes against journalists, emphasizing that targeting journalists and media institutions constitutes a war crime aimed at silencing the truth.
He urged international journalists' organizations to take immediate action to protect Palestinian journalists and to hold accountable the leaders responsible for these deaths.
