Islamabad: Pakistan and Turkiye have signed several Memorandums of Understanding and agreements in the mining sector during the visit of Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, to Pakistan.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Turkish minister met with Pakistan's Prime Minister, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, at the PM House. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the growing bilateral relations and reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to expanding cooperation with Turkiye, especially in the energy sector. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in the energy, petroleum, and mineral sectors, noting that Turkish Petroleum's involvement in Pakistan's exploration activities marks significant progress in bilateral energy cooperation. An invitation was extended to Turkish companies to increase their investments in Pakistan's energy market. The Prime Minister also highlighted the need for close coordination in light of the evolving regional and global environment. It was agreed that a Pakistani Ministerial delegation will visit Turkiye to explore further cooperation, particularly in the energy and power sectors. The meeting concluded with the exchange of several agreements in the field of mining.
Additionally, Minister Bayraktar held discussions with Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. The meeting focused on expanding cooperation in the energy sector and exploring strategic collaboration avenues, as reported by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR). Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing partnerships in areas of mutual interest and regional stability. The Army Chief acknowledged the historic relations between the two nations and appreciated Turkiye's support to Pakistan at international forums. Minister Bayraktar expressed Turkiye's desire to deepen energy cooperation and recognized Pakistan's efforts toward regional peace and sustainable development, according to the ISPR release.
