Riyadh: Acting Director General of Kuwait's Public Authority for Industry (PAI) Shamlan Al-Juhaidli praised the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) for carrying out over 900 development programs and initiatives across 130 countries worldwide.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Juhaidli, speaking at the 21st UNIDO General Conference in Riyadh, emphasized that these initiatives focused on industrial innovation, clean energy, supply chain development, and enhancing the productive efficiency of developing countries. He noted UNIDO's efforts in reducing over 15 million tons of emissions annually through circular economy practices and clean technologies. These programs align with global efforts to protect the environment and balance economic growth with environmental sustainability.
Al-Juhaidli underscored the importance of supporting national industries to boost their competitiveness and innovation. This aligns with UNIDO's goals of enhancing international cooperation, sharing expertise, and empowering women and youth, as well as the Sustainable Development Goals and the UN 2030 Agenda. The Kuwaiti delegation also participated in a high-level roundtable that reviewed countries' policies on localizing value-added industries and explored ways to benefit from these approaches.
