Turkish media reported that the security authorities arrested one of the most prominent instigators of the riots that took place last Sunday in Kayseri province against Syrians residing in Turkey.
The Turkish media indicated in media reports published today, based on security sources, that a Turkish citizen in Istanbul published misleading news inciting violence in the wake of attacks targeting Syrians in Kayseri province.
The Turkish media explained that the arrested person was spreading misleading news about the rape of a Turkish girl by a Syrian in the state of Kayseri and calling on citizens to take revenge on the Syrians for this act, and that he was spreading this misleading news after the attacks on Syrians and their property in the state of Kayseri last Sunday, which led to the riots spread to other neighboring states at a time when the Turkish authorities were trying to calm the security situation.
The security authorities confirmed that the accused will be referred to the judiciary on charges of
spreading misleading information to the public, and will be tried on charges of illegal use of personal data and inciting the public to hatred and hostility.
It is noteworthy that the state of Kayseri witnessed violence last Sunday evening after a Syrian was arrested on suspicion of harassing a minor among his relatives. A group of people targeted shops and property belonging to Syrians in the city of Kayseri, and the attacks spread to other cities, including Istanbul.
Last night, one of the Syrian workers was stabbed by unknown assailants in the city of Antakya, which led to his death.
