Oman’s Ambassador Highlights Deep-Rooted Relations with Kuwait

Kuwait city: Oman's Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharousi, praised the close and distinguished historical relations between Oman and Kuwait during a ceremony held by the Omani Embassy in Kuwait to celebrate the Sultanate's National Day.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Ambassador emphasized that the relations between the two countries receive special care and unlimited support from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The event was attended by His Highness the Prime Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, along with several sheikhs, state officials, and heads of diplomatic missions.

The Ambassador described Kuwaiti-Omani relations as "deeply rooted and fraternal," highlighting the political, economic, and cultural steps taken by the leaders of both countries to strengthen bilateral cooperation. He noted significant progress in political cooperation this year, including the visit of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait to Oman on October 14th, where discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in various fields such as the economy, trade, and investment.

Ambassador Al-Kharousi also stated that the bilateral relations have grown steadily in recent years. He mentioned that Kuwait has become a leading investor in Oman, with direct investments estimated at USD 1.362 billion this year. This positions Kuwait as Oman's leading economic partner in the Gulf and the Arab world, and the third-largest globally, after the United Kingdom and the United States. The trade exchange between the two countries reached around five billion dollars last year, marking an increase of nearly 120 percent from the previous year.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Al-Kharousi highlighted that the National Day represents Oman's celebration of its rich history and the founding of the Al Busaidi dynasty on November 20, 1744. He pointed out that under Sultan Haitham bin Tariq's leadership, Oman aims for a prosperous and sustainable future while balancing tradition and modernization.

The Ambassador affirmed Oman's commitment to diplomacy based on neutrality, dialogue, and respect for international law. He reiterated Oman's support for the rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, urging the international community to work towards a two-state solution for lasting peace in the Middle East.
