Omani Sultan and UK Foreign Minister Discuss Regional and International Developments

Muscat: Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman received UK's Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, David Lammy. The meeting centered on discussing regional and international developments.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the discussions highlighted the historic and strategic ties between Oman and the UK. The partnership between the two nations is particularly focused on supporting Oman's economic diversification.

Both leaders reiterated their dedication to fostering peace, security, and stability on both regional and global scales. Sultan Haitham emphasized the robust cooperation between Oman and the UK, while Lammy acknowledged Oman's modern development initiatives. He expressed the UK's desire to further enhance cooperation and deepen investment relations across various sectors.

Lammy addressed several regional issues, including calls for a ceasefire in Gaza and efforts towards peace. He also praised Oman's mediation efforts between the US and Iran, aimed at achieving a new peaceful nuclear agreement.

In a separate meeting, Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi and David Lammy discussed support for a free trade agreement between the GCC and the UK. Both ministers confirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in key strategic sectors.
