Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman on Tuesday emphasized the importance of Iran and the United States resuming negotiations to resolve disputes through peaceful dialogue, aiming to enhance peace and security in the region and worldwide.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the statement was made during a meeting in Muscat between Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman and Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani. The discussions focused on the latest developments in Iranian-US negotiations and the pursuit of a balanced agreement between the two countries.
Larijani conveyed greetings from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Sultan Haitham, along with wishes for health and prosperity. In return, the Sultan extended his greetings and wishes for stability in Iran.
The agency also reported that Larijani had earlier met with Omani Minister of the Royal Office Lt. Gen. Sultan Al-Nuamani, expressing appreciation for Oman's stance on various regional and international issues. Al-Nuamani highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Oman and Iran, with discussions extending to several mutual interests.
Oman had previously hosted Iranian-US negotiations in Muscat last Friday, with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff representing their respective sides.
