OIC Welcomes Azerbaijan-Armenia Peace Accord

Jeddah: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Saturday welcomed the U.S.-brokered peace agreement concluded by Azerbaijan and Armenia. In a press release, the Jeddah-based Muslim bloc expressed its approval of the recent accord, anticipating that it would pave the way for a new chapter of relations between the two nations, characterized by understanding, friendship, and cooperation, while also contributing to enhanced security, stability, and development in the Caucasus region.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed the peace deal on Friday at the White House, marking the end of a 35-year conflict between the two countries. The agreement, facilitated by the United States, aims to resolve longstanding disputes and foster a peaceful coexistence. The OIC's endorsement reflects the international community's hope for a durable peace in the region.
