OIC to Address Somalia Developments in Extraordinary Meeting on Saturday

Jeddah: The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) announced that an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers will be held on Saturday, January 10, at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah, to discuss the rapidly escalating and dangerous developments in the Federal Republic of Somalia.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting follows recent events, particularly Israel's recognition of the so-called 'Somaliland' as an independent state, a move that constitutes a violation of Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The meeting aims to formulate a unified Islamic position on these developments and reaffirm the OIC's unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia, in line with international conventions and relevant OIC resolutions.
