The Hague: The Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) presented a pleading to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) seeking an advisory opinion on the obligations of the Israeli occupation authorities towards the activities of United Nations agencies, other international organizations, and those from third countries in the occupied Palestinian territories.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the pleading is part of legal efforts to counter the practices of the Israeli occupation, including the ban imposed on UNRWA activities in Palestine, which took effect on January 30. A statement from the OIC Secretariat highlighted the organization’s commitment to addressing these issues.
The OIC reaffirmed its support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), which was established by the UN General Assembly Resolution 212 on November 19, 1948. The agency serves millions of displaced Palestinians across the region.
