Kuwait city: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) affirmed the pivotal role of charitable work in alleviating poverty, responding to humanitarian crises, and strengthening social cohesion within societies.
According to Kuwait News Agency, this statement was issued by the OIC on the International Day of Charity, which emphasizes the promotion of compassion, generosity, and solidarity on a global scale. The organization highlighted that its celebration of this occasion underscores its unwavering commitment to the principles and values of Islam, as well as its charter and ten-year work program, particularly focusing on compassion, solidarity, and social justice.
Furthermore, the OIC reiterated its ongoing support for charitable programs aimed at providing food security, healthcare, education, and emergency relief to vulnerable groups. This support is facilitated through the organization's humanitarian activities, development initiatives, and collaboration with member states, relevant institutions, and international partners.
The International Day of Charity is celebrated on September 5 and was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012. It serves as a global platform for reaffirming the commitment to the values of giving, fostering a spirit of solidarity, and encouraging communities to offer aid without discrimination or boundaries.
