Kuwait city: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the Israeli occupation's recognition of Somaliland as an independent state, viewing it as an infringement on Somalia's sovereignty, national unity, and territorial integrity.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the OIC issued a statement reiterating its complete solidarity with Somalia and its steadfast support for the country's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and legitimate institutions. The organization emphasized the importance of adhering to the principles outlined in the OIC Charter, the UN Charter, and international law, which all mandate respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of member states.
The OIC highlighted the importance of maintaining security, peace, and stability in the Horn of Africa region. It expressed a strong rejection of any actions that could potentially undermine regional stability.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the recognition of Somaliland as an "independent and sovereign state."
