OIC Concerned Over Targeting of Iran Nuclear Facilities

Tehran: The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Sunday expressed deep concern over the targeting of Iranian nuclear facilities by the United States.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the OIC stated that the US strikes represent a dangerous escalation that could lead to heightened tensions and threaten regional security, peace, and stability. The organization emphasized the potential risks involved in such actions and urged for caution.

The Islamic bloc recalled its statement from 13 June 2025, condemning the violation of Iran's sovereignty as well as international laws and conventions. It called for de-escalation, self-restraint, and a return to dialogue and negotiations through peaceful means. The OIC highlighted the importance of addressing conflicts through diplomatic channels rather than military interventions.

In the wake of these developments, Iran's capital, Tehran, and other cities have been under airstrikes by Israeli occupation warplanes since June 13, prompting Iran to respond by firing missiles on Israeli occupation sites. This exchange has further complicated the situation in the region.

US President Donald Trump announced early Sunday that American forces had struck three nuclear sites in Iran. He described the operation as "a spectacular military success" and issued a warning that more attacks would follow if Tehran did not agree to a deal. The announcement has added to the growing tension and uncertainty surrounding the region's stability.
