OHCHR Voices Concern Over Treatment of Released Palestinian Detainees

Geneva: The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on Monday expressed grave concern over the images of Palestinian detainees released as part of the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, describing them as "deeply disturbing." In a statement issued from Geneva, UN Human Rights Spokesperson Thameen Al-Kheetan stressed that "the manner of their release also raises serious concerns," adding that Palestinians released from Israeli occupation detention have shown signs of ill-treatment and severe malnourishment, reflecting the severe conditions under which they have been held.

According to Kuwait News Agency, OHCHR has called on the Israeli occupation authorities to immediately and unconditionally release all arbitrarily detained Palestinians. The spokesperson's comments highlight ongoing concerns about the treatment and conditions of Palestinian detainees, emphasizing the need for urgent action to address these human rights issues.
