OHCHR Condemns Killing of Two Palestinians by Israeli Forces in Jenin

Geneva: The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on Friday expressed outrage as Israeli occupation border police killed two Palestinian men in Jenin in the West Bank, describing the incident as an apparent summary execution.

According to Kuwait News Agency, OHCHR Spokesperson Jeremy Laurence addressed journalists in Geneva, highlighting the increase in killings of Palestinians by Israeli forces and settlers in the occupied West Bank. He noted the lack of accountability, even in the few instances where investigations are announced.

Laurence mentioned that an internal review was initiated following the incident, which was captured on film by a TV channel. He voiced his concern over statements by a senior Israeli government official that seemed to absolve Israeli security forces of responsibility, which he said undermines the credibility of any future investigations that are not conducted by independent bodies.

Laurence confirmed that from 7 October 2023 to 27 November 2025, Israeli forces and settlers have killed 1,030 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. This figure includes 223 children.

He called for an end to the impunity surrounding the unlawful use of force by Israeli forces and the increasing violence from Israeli settlers.

Laurence reiterated the call from UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk for independent, prompt, and effective investigations into the killings, ensuring that those responsible for violations are held accountable.
