Official: OQ8 Shows Unique Integration Between Kuwait, Oman

Kuwait city: The Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Company (OQ8) is one of the most important strategic industrial projects in the region, and a unique exemplary of integration between Kuwait and Oman, said CEO of Duqm Refinery Abdullah Al-Ajmi on Tuesday.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Ajmi expressed his pride for being appointed as the new CEO of the facility, stating that his appointment came at a time when the company continues to enhance its status as a leading entity in the region. He affirmed ongoing progress with confidence to boost operational efficiency and adopt flexible action methods while empowering national talents for leadership.

All staff at the refinery works within the spirit of teamwork, driven by permanent development, collaboration, innovation, and a deep commitment to sustainability as a main path for long-term value, he noted. Al-Ajmi highlighted that the refinery continues to cement its position as an international facility by combining flexibility and distinguished efficiency, benefiting from the latest techniques and innovations.

The refinery is recognized as the largest investment project between Kuwait and Oman in the Duqm area, south of the Sultanate, with an investment value estimated at about USD nine billion. It represents a significant addition to the global energy market.

The inauguration of the refinery in Oman, attended and sponsored by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, is scheduled for February 2024.
