Kuwait city: NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte welcomed the arrival of the first package of US military equipment for Ukraine under the newly launched NATO initiative, the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL). The Dutch government has fully funded this initial shipment, marking a significant step in supporting Ukraine. According to Kuwait News Agency, Rutte commended The Netherlands for leading this initiative and transforming it into concrete support on the ground. This builds on Germany's recent delivery of more Patriot systems to Ukraine. The aim is to provide Ukraine with the necessary equipment to defend itself against Russian aggression and to support President Trump's peace efforts. Rutte has urged all NATO member states to share the burden of support, anticipating further significant announcements from other Allies soon. This follows an agreement reached last month between NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and US President Donald Trump at the White House, launching this new initiative. The initiative is funded by European Allies and Canada, consisting of regular aid packages worth approximately 500 million dollars each. These packages contain equipment and munitions identified by Ukrainian authorities as operational priorities. Member states agreed at the NATO Summit in The Hague last June to share the responsibility of supporting Ukraine more equitably, a shift prompted by pressure from Washington. According to the statement, NATO will coordinate the delivery of these packages through the NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU) command, based in Wiesbaden, Germany. Supreme Allied Commander Europe Alexus Grynkewich, in cooperation with Ukraine and the United States, will validate each package to ensure it aligns with Kyiv's needs, focusing on air defense, ammunition, and other critical equipment for urgent delivery from US stockpiles.
