Kuwait City: The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced on Sunday the successful interception of a substantial shipment of narcotics originating from the UK.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the shipment contained 50,000 capsules of the prohibited substance Lyrica, along with three kilograms of hashish and four kilograms of a suspected narcotic substance.
The operation was executed in joint coordination with the General Administration for Drug Control and the General Administration of Customs. This seizure is part of ongoing investigations related to case No. 905/2025, which previously resulted in the arrest of a lawyer and two other individuals. The lawyer, implicated in the case, provided authorities with a waybill linked to a fugitive Kuwaiti - the primary suspect - who dispatched the shipment and is currently residing in the UK.
The fugitive faces three arrest warrants and a five-year sentence in absentia. Authorities revealed that the suspect planned to distribute the drugs among local youth with the aid of accomplices. The Ministry of Interior emphasized its commitment to apprehending the remaining suspects and pursuing the fugitive through established international legal channels.
