Kuwait City: Kuwaiti Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi inked a memorandum of understanding with Gustave Roussy, a European cancer research hospital located in Paris, on Thursday. The agreement is part of the Ministry's ongoing efforts to enhance the healthcare system and establish partnerships with renowned international medical institutions.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Dr. Al-Awadhi emphasized the Ministry's commitment to patient care and advancing cancer treatment in line with global standards. He highlighted Gustave Roussy as the largest oncology facility in Europe, stating that collaboration with this institution will improve the capabilities of medical professionals in Kuwait and offer more advanced cancer treatment options.
Dr. Hashem Klinder, the Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Overseas Health Services, noted that the MoU focuses on specialized medical consultancy, training courses, fellowships, and the exchange of experiences. It also aims to enhance the digital management of medical facilities.
The agreement builds on 50 years of national efforts and international cooperation to combat cancer, Dr. Klinder added. He referenced the establishment of the Kuwait center for combatting cancer in 1968 and the national register of cancer patients in 1971 as key milestones in this ongoing initiative.
The document was signed on behalf of Gustave Roussy by Director General Fabrice Barlesi.
