Kuwait city: The Ministry of Health (MoH) announced on Thursday that Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital's endocrine tumor surgery team has achieved a pioneering medical progress by performing thyroidectomy operations using a robot through the oral cavity without any external wounds.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the ministry stated that this technique, developed by a national team led by Dr. Salman Al-Safran, represents one of the latest global methods in thyroid surgery. This advancement places Kuwait on an advanced path within the international surgical innovation landscape.
The ministry highlighted that this new technique is a qualitative breakthrough when compared to traditional methods, which typically required a neck incision. The innovative procedure reduces both pain and recovery time, contributing to enhanced treatment value and improved healthcare outcomes.
The development signifies accelerated progress in the robotic services offered by the ministry and Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital. It underscores Kuwait's capability to match global medical advancements, paving the way for future phases that aim to incorporate more sophisticated robotic surgeries. This initiative is poised to further elevate the nation's standing in the field of developed surgical techniques.
