Minister of Youth Inaugurates Gulf Veterans Championship with Enthralling Ceremony

Al-Sulaibikhat: The Gulf Veterans Football Championship was officially inaugurated by Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, the Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs. The grand opening took place at the Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium, part of the Al-Sulaibikhat Club, marking the start of an exciting week of veteran football matches.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Mutairi expressed his heartfelt welcome to the delegations participating in this prestigious event, highlighting the country's spirit of friendship and peace. The opening ceremony featured an engaging performance by singer Hamoud Al-Khadher, followed by a captivating drone show that entertained the attendees.

Prior to the official ceremony, the second group saw two thrilling matches. Iraq emerged victorious over Yemen with a narrow 1-0 win, while the match between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain concluded in a goalless draw. The championship showcases eight teams, split into two groups, with Group A consisting of Kuwait, Qatar, the Emirates, and Oman. Group B features Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Bahrain, and Yemen. The competition is set to continue until next Wednesday, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
