Kuwait City: Minister of Information, Culture, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi inaugurated the 20th edition of the Arab Media Forum on Saturday evening. The three-day event is held under the patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, focusing on "Media Challenges in Light of Advancing Technology and Digital Transformation."
According to Kuwait News Agency, Minister Al-Mutairi, speaking on behalf of His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, emphasized the profound transformations occurring in the media landscape due to the communications and information revolution. He noted the pivotal role digital media now plays in influencing public opinion and the necessity for strategic vision and professional competence to navigate these changes.
Minister Al-Mutairi highlighted Kuwait's commitment to fostering an environment of thought, creativity, and openness, supported by the country's political leadership. He acknowledged the efforts of national media institutions to maintain responsible freedom of expression and adapt to digital transformations, bolstered by high-profile support from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and other key leaders.
The minister also outlined Kuwait's initiatives in media and culture, such as the launch of the (51) electronic platform, which preserves and shares Kuwait's artistic and media heritage. The selection of Kuwait as the Arab Capital of Culture and Media for 2025 further underscores its contributions to media freedom and cultural identity, adding significance to this year's forum.
Minister Al-Mutairi expressed pride in the United Arab Emirates being chosen as the forum's guest of honor, acknowledging its significant contributions to Arab media and its leadership in adopting modern technologies and producing quality content. This recognition reflects the UAE's active role in regional and international media discussions.
