Kuwait city: Minister of Social Affairs, Family Affairs and Childhood Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah on Thursday issued a ministerial decision forming "the creativity award steering committee" for the disabled, coinciding with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the minister stated that her decision aligns with Law 8/2010 regarding the rights of the handicapped and aims to implement state policy to enable this segment of society to transition from care to effective partnership in development.
The minister expressed her intent to highlight individuals distinguished in scientific, cultural, social, and athletic contributions to change stereotypes and foster a culture of empowerment and integration.
Minister Al-Huwailah will chair the award commission, which will include representatives from the Public Authority for Disability, the ministries of education, information, and finance, the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, the Public Youth Authority, the Public Sports Authority, and Al-Awqaf General Secretariat.
The committee's responsibilities include supervision, fund allocation, setting categories, guidelines for participation, nomination mechanisms, timetables, forming sub-committees, and endorsing winners' names.
