Kuala lumpur: Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hassan stated on Thursday that the United Nations' plan of action must safeguard the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people, ensuring their independent statehood, respecting their aspirations, and guaranteeing their safety.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Hassan announced that Malaysia will convey a strong message at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York this week. He emphasized the importance of bolstering support for the UN's humanitarian and development initiatives in Palestine.
Hassan also highlighted that Israel must be held accountable for its continuous violations of international law, which include genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. He called for justice for the Palestinian people, including reparations, and stressed that the first step to giving real meaning to the New York Declaration is an immediate cessation of the ongoing conflict and atrocities in Gaza.
He reiterated Malaysia's full support for international efforts to promote the two-state solution and the recognition of a sovereign State of Palestine, as outlined in the New York Declaration. Hassan emphasized that this recognition is a critical step towards ending Israel's policies of illegal occupation and annexation.
