Kuala lumpur: Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced approximately USD 21 million in humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip's population, who are experiencing severe starvation due to Israeli occupation actions. The announcement was made on Sunday during a mass gathering in Kuala Lumpur, which attracted more than 100,000 people protesting against the Israeli occupation's actions in Palestinian territories.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Malaysian prime minister declared that Malaysia would contribute an additional RM 100 million, roughly USD 21 million, to support the Palestinian people. This pledge mirrors a similar aid initiative approved by Malaysia in previous years. Anwar Ibrahim emphasized Malaysia's ongoing dedication to aiding Palestinians amid their acute humanitarian crisis.
Additionally, the prime minister launched a Gaza Flotilla convoy, which includes participants from over 50 countries worldwide, including several from Southeast Asia. Ahmad Sani, President of the Malaysian Consultative Council for Islamic Organizations (MAPIM), told KUNA that the three-day event aimed to reinforce Southeast Asia's unity and solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
Sani further detailed that the First Freedom Flotilla is scheduled to depart from Spain on August 31, followed by a second voyage on September 4.
